Handmade Scarf Swap

The ongoing struggle between staying warm and being fashionable is one that kills me every year. I leave the house most days looking like a burnt marshmallow or like I am hiding from the law.   And I live in the south for crying out loud. I don’t know how you folks up North do it.

This year, scarfs have become my savior. I have found that if I can keep my head and neck warm, then the rest of my body is agreeable to pausing Netflix and seeing what’s going on outside. So I was happy to be able to participate in the 2015 Handmade Scarf Swap, giving me a chance to try something new. I decided to give the Leather Snap Scarf tutorial from Delia Creates a try. I used a buffalo checkered knit from Wanderlust fabrics and a pre-cut leather strip that was in my stash. I followed the tutorial entirely with the exception of adding an extra layer of light weight batting on the inside to make it super warm and cozy. It’s almost like having a pillow around your neck, which lets face it, half the time I walk around in the winter with my duvet wrapped around my body looking like mummy. So adding a pillow-y like scarf to my neck just makes sense.

I hope my scarf swap partner enjoys this scarf as much as I did. And hopefully scarf season is coming to an end real soon.

I’m new to your blog and like your style I’m wondering if you’ve made your tunic/top to go with your lovely scarf? If so, what pattern did you use? It looks very versatile.

Hey Tammy! No I did not make the tunic. Its from Asos.com. I love it! You can go to their website and search under shift dresses and you should find it. I am hoping do re-create one myself some time soon, so be on the look out of that post!!
